Princeton, NJ and Irvine, CA (June 12, 2026) — Amid growing interest in the development of students’ non-academic competencies, ETS Capital, the investment arm of ETS, today announced a strategic investment in Impacter Pathway, the AI-native measurement platform for durable skills and social-emotional learning in K-12 education. IMPACTER uses natural language processing and machine learning to transform authentic student voice into credible, longitudinal data on the non-cognitive skills that students need to thrive in school, work, and life.
“IMPACTER has a market-validated product and a proprietary K-12 language dataset, the value of which compounds with scale. IMPACTER’s strong customer traction and proprietary technology make it a compelling investment for ETS Capital,” said Emal Dusst, Managing Director and Head of ETS Capital. “We look forward to partnering with the IMPACTER team in their next phase of growth.”
As states and districts increasingly adopt Portrait of a Graduate frameworks and durable skills mandates, IMPACTER’s platform sets a new standard for credible, scalable measurement infrastructure. Through analysis of the language students use in their own writing and verbal reflections, IMPACTER surfaces data and insights into areas of non-cognitive growth, including compassion, gratitude, and purpose. IMPACTER’s platform supports more than 100,000 students each day, equipping educators to build on students’ strengths while identifying where additional support is needed. ETS’s investment will help accelerate product development and expand operations to meet growing demand from districts and states nationwide.
"ETS's investment in IMPACTER accelerates our ability to bring a more complete picture of every person to schools and workplaces, measuring not only what learners know, but who they are becoming,” said Danny Byun, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of IMPACTER. “There is no better partner in the world to scale this mission with."
"For nearly eight decades, ETS has set the global standard for what rigorous, fair, and scientifically grounded measurement looks like,” said Josh Arnold, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of IMPACTER. “Together, we have the opportunity to define how the world measures the human skills that matter most in the modern economy."
